Photo Cube with Student FaceHow the Community is Helping

Developing a plan to build new schools in Bridgeport has involved the input and expertise of many different people in the community. Residents and business owners are invited to regularly scheduled progress meetings where they learn about the latest developments on each construction project. To be sure this valuable input is integrated whenever possible in the formal plans, a parent, teacher, principal, and a neighborhood resident all serve on the design subcommittee for each school.

A key part of this program has been to identify locations for the new schools. This has meant the reuse of vacant land and, in some instances, the assembly and acquisition of privately owned property and the relocation of businesses, homeowners, and renters. Relocation specialists have been working with families and business owners to assist them in settling into their new home or business locations. For some of these families, this move has become a stepping stone to home ownership in the city of Bridgeport.

The Bridgeport School Construction Program has received positive reactions throughout the city. Residents are excited about the new and renovated schools and what they will mean to their children, their neighborhoods, and the future of the city of Bridgeport. Business owners also understand this substantial investment is critical to building a more vibrant city.

Information about individual school projects, the designs, and the construction timelines, will be listed on this web site along with the latest developments relating to Bridgeport’s new and renovated schools.
